You never know where inspiration will hit you.
This morning as I was going through my daily pre-run ritual of catching-up on Instagram while having my coffee when I came across a series of celebrity posts with tiny celebrities photoshopped on their shoulders. There was Grease-on-Reese, a tiny John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John dancing on the shoulder of Reese Witherspoon; Penn-on-Jen, a little-bity Sean Penn strutting on the shoulder of Jennifer Garner, and a slew of others.
It ends up the whole social media craze stemmed from Elizabeth Bank’s post over this weekend when she posted a picture of herself with a pint-sized Tom Hanks atop of her shoulder. It was her twist on Elf on the Shelf posts that have become popular on social media for the past several years. Maybe she was having a moment. Maybe it’s from being stuck at home for all of these months. Who knows? But it’s kind of wacky and I dig wacky.
Always up for a challenge, it got me thinking. But what in the hell rhymes with “Dennis?” Nothing. Although at one point considered a tiny Fennis Dembo resting on my shoulder, nah….even too obscure for me. So over the course of my run I let my mind wander. Then it hit me. What if I didn’t use me, but a product instead? After a few failed rhymes I landed on Maker’s on Baker’s.
Unlike Elizabeth Bank’s original concept, I’m proud to say my take was all captured in-camera as a single shot (thanks to a little glue and a whole lot of patience).
Do you have an idea for an unusual image in your head? Give me a shout and let’s bring it to fruition.
