Supermarkets look to stock more locally produced goods.

Food Dive’s Sam Silverstein recently wrote how supermarket chains are looking to bring locally produced items to their store shelves. 

Whether it’s dairy that comes from nearby producers or locally-crafted jarred sauces, it’s a way to support local brands and offer a diverse range of flavors that reflect their consumers’ tastes. Most importantly, shoppers are asking for it.

Buyers will often visit community events, farmer’s markets and local restaurants that source local and “interesting” ingredients. It can be a way to discover smaller, lesser-known and local brands.
